Dr Woodruff John Walker is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist
Dr. Walker was until recently Lead Clinician in Gynaecological Cancer at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and St Luke's Cancer Centre in Guildford, Surrey, now having a joint role.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital is a national referral centre for gynaecological cancer.
He qualified as a doctor at the Middlesex Hospital in 1970, trained in Radiology at the Groote-Schuur Hospital in Cape Town and carried out his first embolization for gastro-intestinal haemorrhage in 1976. Since that time he has published numerous articles and chapters on Interventional Radiology and Interventional and Diagnostic Gynaecology. In addition to those publications he has published a further 28 articles and chapters on fibroid embolization and the list of these together with 73 papers presented at international meetings and invited teaching on fibroid embolization can be seen by clicking on the 'Papers' links. He has personally carried out more than 3,000 fibroid embolizations as part of the Royal Surrey and London Clinic trial.
Dr Walker has a Silver Merit Award from the NHS and an NHS Lifetime Achievement Award and for the last six years has carried out 4 voluntary pro bono sessions per week for the Royal Surrey County Hospital including two interventional fibroid embolization sessions and it is The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford where his NHS Practice is based. He works privately both at the Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital and The London Clinic in Harley Street, London.
