Welcome to my website
30 to 40% of women suffer from uterine fibroids
which are simply benign growths of the uterine muscle.
If they grow large they can cause pain and
discomfort but they can be quickly eradicated with a straightforward procedure called fibroid embolisation which I have carried out over 2,500 times. Please use my website to establish the facts
for yourself then if necessary call me for advice or a consultation in Surrey or London.
World Class Treatment I am privileged to have received a Silver Merit Award from the NHS and an NHS Lifetime Achievement Award for my work at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford where my National Health Service Practice is based.
I also work privately both at the Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital and the London Clinic in Harley Street in central London which is particularly convenient for my overseas patients.
The embolisation procedure
Under local anaesthesia and intravenous sedation a tiny catheter is inserted under local anaesthetic into an artery in the right groin. Under X-ray control a micro catheter is introduced selectively into each of the two arteries that supply the uterus. The micro catheter is passed approximately half way down the artery and then fine particles of a solid substance called PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol) are injected through the catheter into the uterine artery.
Uterine fibroid embolisation is a complex procedure with a significant learning curve requiring not only a skilled Interventional Radiologist but also one who has performed many UFE procedures.
An attentive assessment combined with top notch facilities and the latest theatre technology makes for a successful recovery and a happy outcome.
